President Obama and the First Lady traveled to Denmark today in hopes of persuading the Olympics Committee to have the summer Olympics held in Chicago in 2016. While First Lady Michelle Obama's trip has been planned for quite some time, critics believe the President failed in making this one of his priorities while congress is currently in a critical debate over health care legislation.
While many are wondering what exactly President Obama is thinking, many understand he is simply using his power to help his hometown. Great usage of presidential power and time, right? Not quite. I think President Obama has a full plate as it is and should focus his priorities on things that matter today and in the near future. Not on where the Olympics will be held over 6 years from now. I am a huge advocate of the Olympics, especially in the United States, but I do think our President needs to prioritize.
